Arnold, London, 1907. 343 pages, index, illustrations. This is the autobiography of Major-General Sir Owen Tudor Burne. Burne joined the 20th Regiment (later the Lancashire Fusiliers) in 1855 in time to serve at the end of the Crimean War. He went on to serve through the Indian Mutiny before taking up appointments as Military Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief India, Sir Hugh Rose and later Private Secretary to Lord Mayo until assasinated and Lord Lytton. He undertook other appointments in India Office and was a member of the Council of India. This is a lively record of a distinguished career. Sl handling wear to blue cloth boards, no dj, sl foxing to outer pages. Scarce. G.
