Sub-titled 'being the Life and Adventures of Subedar Sita Ram, a Native Officer of the Bengal Army written and related by Himself'. 186pp, illustrations and maps in text. So far as is known this is the only published account by an Indian soldier who served in the East India Company's Army and was essential reading for British Army Officers serving in India. The memoirs cover most of the first half of the 19thC. Sita Ram saw much action including the Gurkha War 1814-1816, the Pindari War, Afghanistan 1839-1842 and both Sikh Wars.
